Generally in first year enng. only common subjects will be taught. Like Mathematics, Phy, Chem, Mechanics etc.
Apart from that drawing subjects like graphics will be taught.
For Civil engineering it is best to go through some stress/strain analysis and sort of things which you might have studied in +1/+2 physics. It is important to know the basic concepts like Moment of Inertia, centroid and also properties of different materials can be studied.
It is important to focus on graphics[Engg drawing] 4 civil engg.
Well this is my opinion and not an expert one as I did my B.Tech in Mechanical. All the best.
