well ravi, OCA is Oracle Certified Associate. OCP is Oracle Certified Professional. OCM is Oracle Certified Master. You need the OCA before you can get the OCP and you need the OCP before you can get the OCM. OCM is only available for DBA. Oracle offers 3 types of certification:developer, iAS administrator and DBA.
The short story here is that if you want to be on the functional/business side, learn the business and then work for a company using Oracle Apps. Or, if you have a business degree, go to work for one of the big implementors as a junior team member. That's the way everyone I know who works as a functional in apps got there.
If you want to be a technical apps consultant, it helps to have specific knowledge of the functional area, i.e. HR, financial, public sector, etc. It also helps to have extensive technical skills. I had 4 or 5 years with Oracle and Oracle Forms before I moved to apps. I also had a background in HR type, custom applications. I got lucky and got a good job working for a great manager on a project called Project X. Nothing better than a project with a cool name! Heh
So I would have to say apps is not the easiest way to break into an Oracle career.
I'm going to end it here today. My next article in this series will answer the question, "How do I get a job?". That will be my final article on this topic for a while. I'm ready to get back into some technical issues.
