whats the use of 3G sets in india until and unless a service provider is not providing the 3G services...?  

Well,

Very soon your 3G sets will be in use as almost all the operators are gearing up for providing 3G services in India.

Only hurdle in this regard is the spectrum allocation by the DOT to the operators.

DOT 's confusing spectrum allocation policy is dealaying 3G service rollout by the operator. once that is settled your 3G service will be rolled out.

As for example BSNL already have procured 3G equipments for 1.5 Million lines. Lets hope for the best.

Well , you are right.
There is no use of 3G , if it is not provided by service provider.

I heard sometime back that in India too , 3G services would be provided.
Till now it is not implemented.

May be the high rate is a drawback of this service and thats why it is not being provided.

Hopefully we will see it in future.
