well, Not major difference. All regular 32-bit XP drivers run on MCE just like on Home or Pro or Tablet PC. Media Centre is almost a superset of XP Pro, except when it comes to joining a domain: it's not supported, and although you can do it during setup, you'll break any usage of Media Centre Extender units.
MCE is also considered a consumer product rather than a business one, which means no security patches from 2 years after Vista is released.
The Media Centre app (and remote control etc) is the only extra feature you get with Media Center.
Themes are same and can be exchanged easily.
Minimum requirements to run MCE 2005:
Windows XP Media Center 2005 with Rollup 2
2GIG DDR400 RAM
Intel Pentium 4 630 Processor (3.0)
CPU Biostar Ideq 300G MCE-I
Microsoft Remote control
WinDVD 7, FFDShow
