There are several ways to lock your computer, and the method you choose is a matter of personal preference.
1) BEST Method: Most types of BIOS let you create a user password that must be entered thereafter to permit the system to start up. If the BIOS supports it, an administrator password will prevent intruders from changing your BIOS settings (including the boot password). To get started, check your system's online or printed documentation to find out how to enter the BIOS setup program. Once in the program, look for a security or password section; then simply follow the on-screen prompts, enter the password, save the new settings, and restart the system.
2) In your windows, have a password protected screensaver that will save your system from intruder when you go away or it gets unattended. Right click on an empty space on your desktop - click Properties - Click on the tab. Pick a screen saver from the screen saver drop down list. Set a time of your choice. Click on the check box besides 'On resume, password protect' option. Click 'Apply'. Then you may have to enter your system login password (if you already set) to access the system after the screensaver session. In case if you didn't set any password for your account, go to control panel - User accounts and choose your login and set the pass.
3) The easiest way to lock your PC (temporarily) is by simply pressing the Windows logo key and the letter L (for Lock) (i.e. Windows logo key+L) on a Windows Keyboard.
