what id defrebt between ddr1 and ddr2 ram

Well, DDR2 Double Data Rate RAM is relatively a new type of RAM. Following are the differences between DDR2 and DDR. 1 DDR2 is the next logical progression for memory standards and speeds. DDR2 generation of computer memory, which has evolved from DDR or called DDR-1 memory. DDR-2 has several advantages over DDR-1, including higher speeds, lower power consumption, smaller physical sizes, and greater

how i will know that my ram is ddr1 or ddr2

Hello,The basic difference is the pin config. In DDR1 the pin count is 184 92 on each side, whereas in DDR2 the pin count is 240 120 on each side. Rest terms are technical, Cheers!!!...DDR1CHECK thinkSource:http://shop. enigma.ba/images/ddrram.png http://compeve.com/images/1GB compeve.jpg...The main difference which u can visiualise is the notch in between. I have a laptop with 1 GB of memory, 2 slots, 512 mb each slot. If I install new memory of 1GB in each slot, will I lose the memory that is currently stored ?

of ur computer adding more ram as u said will increase the speed of ur pc. But be sure and confirm that which type of ram is ur Computer supporting. Coz there are two types of ram 1st is DDR 1 is DDR 1 and the another one is DDR 2....u will not lose and ur data.........beacuse ur data is stored on harddisk..........and u r just changing ur ram..........which will increase ur laptop speed

Its a bit strange but due to different latencies a 400MHz DDR1 will outperform a 400MHz DDR2, but the advantage returns to DDR2 know about them by the differences between the two. I have 512MB ddr4003 ram. i need to know is it ddr1 or ddr2 ram ?

DDR2 RAM is slightly smaller and has square chips. DDR1 RAM has rectangular chips. There will be a small cut between connecting wire points of memory module at the edge of the stick other than two have cutting edge to quarter half right side and some have in the middle and some have to the quarter half left .Although DDr2 has more pins than DDR1 ..and ya the cut on the edge will be a little few cm
