Hard disk casing is used to protect the external HDD. Basically a disk enclosure is essentially a specialized chassis designed to hold and power disk drives while providing a mechanism to allow them to communicate to one or more separate computers.

If you mean Disk Caching, then it is a process where data is stored in memory, rather than on disk, to decrease access time.
