I assume qualitatively different plans, would allow a user to specify dimensions along which he or she would like to see variation. Recent work on mixedinitiative, interactive, and advisable planning enables users to drive the process of generating qualitatively different plans (Ferguson Allen 1998; Tate, Dalton, Levine 1998; Myers 1996) With these frameworks, however, the user must be involved extensively in an ongoing role to articulate desired differences and to manage the space of options.
