Java is multi-platform from the start and Microsoft used the idea for their
own product, so I would trust Java more.
Besides I really think Java is the greatest thing
advantages -unix based, more stable than, secure windows, cool looking hardware.
disadvantges -freebsd based, less stable than linux, uncompatible hardware, worst interface out there, expensive.
windows advantages - is used by lot's of people.
disadvantages -crashes, insecure, buggy, expensive.
linux advantages - very fast, the good parts of unix design, stable, many choices for a desktop including GNOME about the best interface in the world, can run on both cheap pc hardware and cool looking mac hardware, free.
