well anil kumar their are several reasons like For your shutdown problem, might take a look at this.

or What video card do you have ? Have you recently updated the driver for it ?

Click Start > Run > type in "SFC" without the ""

Run the system file checker replacing any files it says may be corrupt or missing. You may be asked to use your windows cd so have it handy and also This freeze happens when you go into display properties and click on the "Appearance" tab ? But the display properties initial window pops up fine if you were to right click the desktop > click properties ? This only occurs with the Appearance tab ?

ii) Have you recently installed any new software, drivers, or windows updates that may have coincided with this problem arising ?

iii) Hold down your windows key and hit pause/break. A window will popup. Click on the Device Manager tab. Do you see any yellow exclamation marks next to any of your devices ?
