that 100Mbs means that your lan card will support speeds upto 100 mbps ...that 10Kbps is the speed provided by your ISP..if you want more speed increase the bandwidth from your ISP

it is difficult to understand howcome you getting such less download speed i am getting 40 kbps with 300 kbps connection you need to contact your service provider about the download speed and it upto them and normally you get 10 to 15 %of the speed for download from your connection speed

100 Mbps is the transfer speed of your ethernet port to which you have connected your modem.
It is totally different from internet speed.
In reality it is the speed of data transfer between your modem and ethernet not your internet speed.

100Mbps (Shown on your system tray connection icon) is the connection speed to your local network (i.e. the connection speed between your PC and your router/modem). Whereas the 10Kbps limit is the actual download rate from the internet (i.e. the speed between your router/modem, and the provider broadband ISP). If you got a direct access to 128Kbps system, you may get 15Kbps/max DL speed, whereas for 64Kbps, you may get around 7-8 Kbps. As it's a shared network connection, even high speed line speeds are divided and thus the DL speed would be lower. Say if you got the 256Kbps line and 3 users are using the network means you may get the 10Kbps d/l speed to the direct speed of 30kbps.

Anyways to correctly detect your line speed, you can use the broadband speed test at http://speedtest.in -which will check the bandwidth of your Internet connection against top DSL, cable modem, and other broadband services. This test will result your correct/current bandwidth as well as the download speed. If it differs from what actually your ISP tells you, you may contact them to correct their stance.

Internet bandwidth speed is related to many factors. It depends on server side/ISP load, wiring and your bandwidth. Contact your ISP to troubleshoot this. Well Ashish , 100 MBPS is the bandwidth not the download speed.

bandwidth is the capacity for a given system to transfer data over a connection. It is measured as a bit rate expressed in bits/s or multiples of it (kb/s Mb/s etc.). Digital bandwidth should not be confused with the network throughput, which is the average rate of successful data transfer through a connection. It should also be distinguished from "data transfer", which is the quantity of data transferred over a given period of time.

10 kbps is your actual download speed.

It depends on plan and speed of downloading.

Generally if your speed is 64 kbps ( kilobits per second) than your download speed would be 7-8 kbps / sec .

Now you can calculate your self

128 kbps = download speed ( 15-16 kbps) = 60 MB of download.
