There is a freeware software called youtube grabber. It doesn't need any installation. All you need to do is copy the url of the video to be downloaded and paste it on the space provided on you tube grabber and click grab, and its gets downloaded. And this software downloads all the file in flv format (Flash Video format) so you need players like Media Player Classic or VLC player to play it.
