Well, Sanjeev. Formatting of system is very easy but those who know formatting. If you are new and don't know formmating than my suggestion that don't try this ownself. If you want to do it than first time faormat it with other friends who know formatting. If you see one time than it will easy for you too.

Well, It is a simple and systemic proccess, and if you got a written note than you aslo format it, but if your sytem behave diffenetly than it can be a serious problem for you.

If you want to Format any Computer than fisr t of all you have a Bootable OS CD of Windows (or other OS you want to install) than you have to follow some easy steps. mention here :-
After putting Bootable CD on your CD Drive, restart your computer. Than it will start from CD (remember that it will boot through CD if in your Computer’s BIOS first boot is from CD, else you have to do it, that was another problem for you coz there are different type of BIOS).
Than follow the steps that will occur itself in your Computer. I read some of answers here given but I don’t think these are sufficient and you will get proper direction. I think Alok’s answer can be good but I didn’t read that.

U must have Bootable CD/DVD(& disk that have complete setup files of U'r chosen (what OS do u want to install on u'r pc) operating system.
BIOS SETTING (F2/DEL/NUM)
FIRST BOOT DEVICE CD/DVD
Boot From CD/DVD
If it is Boot of ME/98 Than on the Dos Prompt:-
a:\>format /q c: (Enter)
press Y
Now u'r C: ColN must be formated.
C:\>SCANDISK C:
C:\>SMARTDRV(ENTER)
Go to cd/dvd drive (if u have two partion than ur cd/dvd rom may be f: drive)
c:\>f:(enter)
f:\> cd i386(if u have xp/2000/serv2003)
f:\i386\>wi nnt(e nter)
Follow the instractions and go ahead.

fristy insert cd xp service pack 2 and restart sysytem after that
please DELETE botton and setup will opened than select frist boot device cd roam.
than select save and exit after this computer will restart and cd will be boot automatically .

after do as direction as cd want

any other problem send scrap or call me

take a xp cd & inserty the cd rome & system restart then setup is running .then read & select the next & next & nextif you are a new partitions then see the instructions "D"delete the pattitions"C" create the paritions . give the size in MB then next &next

just get the xp cd in ur cd rom without formatting it earlier...
.
restart pc
it will boot 4m the cd
follow the instructions
it will ask for space . give it the whole disk and option of formatting whole disk will be there.
follow the steps it ask as per ur requirement.
