well Kash, Character fields can contain any characters that you can enter or paste from another source. The administrator sets the maximum length of each field and (optionally) a pattern defining allowable characters.
Note: AR System supports only JIS X 0201 and JIS X 0208 for a Japanese environment. For Japanese Kanji, AR System supports only level 1 and level 2. It does not support any other character sets, such as IBM extended characters.
A character field can include a menu that serves as a fill-in aid. Depending on the menu, choosing an item from the menu can overwrite any existing field contents or append to them.
The maximum length for a character field is unlimited. Depending on how the administrator has designed the form, an expand button might appear to the right of the editor. You can click this button to open the text editor dialog box.
When you position the cursor on a text field containing more text than it can display, a pop-up window displays the complete text of the field.
If you enter a URL, it is converted to a hyperlink when the field has focus. When you click on the hyperlink, the target file opens in a separate window.
To enter information in the text editor:
1. Click the text editor button next to the field.
A dialog box appears. It can contain previously entered text, or appear blank.
2. Click in the field, and begin typing. You can also paste text or include an external text file by using the commands in the File and Edit menus.
Note: When you enter a URL into a text field, the system converts it to a hyperlink that, when clicked, displays the target page in a new browser window. When you are viewing a text field in a form, the hyperlink is active when the text field has focus.
3. Click OK.
