Default simply means the original settings. If you have settings that you can change to personalise it then these are new settings. When asked if you would like to restore defaults it means would you like to go back to the factory settings/original settings eg phones. On some products once you restore defaults or the factory settings, as it is also known, then you may lose your own personalised settings.
Many times a computer program needs values for some items in order to be able to run. Rather than force you, the user, to specify them all before you can do anything, the programmers supply default values for these items -- values that are in effect BY DEFAULT unless you change them.
"Restore defaults" means resetting all values that have defaults back to them.
A Default notice is simply a record placed on your file by creditors stating that you have been in default in some way. Such notices may have been placed without your knowledge and despite a subsequent remedy to the default.
