While studying for competitive examinations, if you just stick to Author and then choose your study material, then you will be highly disappointed. Because of the vastness of the syllabus, it is not possible for a few authors to give you all that you are looking for. You must do a thorough study of the books and study material available and follow those which more or less cover the entire syllabus and which is easy to understand. Famous Authors are definitely paramount, but if you look around, you may get equivalent study material to satisfy your needs. For Me , the content would be paramount any day.

Both have paramount importance. The author on one hand is a subject expert and the content helps in analysing and elucidation of the knowledge that has to be grasped. However not all authors make an impact on presentation and so its better to read more books that have student friendly content matter presented through salient features, Things to Know and attacking skills on an answer.

content and author both have equal importance. many a times it is seen that indian students are comfortable to read and comprehend indian authors. so in that case the student must first look for the indian author on the subjectand then go or content specifications.
