A Transformer is an electrical device that either raises or lowers the voltage & current of electricity. It is a device consisting of two or more insulated coils of wire wound around a magnetic material such as iron and used to convert one AC voltage to another or to electrically isolate the individual circuits. A transformer is also used to isolate the output AC power from the source.
