Premature graying hair is a popular problem for a drug manufacturer, not for patients. It would have been better if you would have searched archives of group before asking the querry.
The reason for graying hair is lack of adequate nutrient circulation to hair roots. It is also premature ageing sign, if occurs before age 25. Another word for ageing is Vata, also means loss of dhatus. Hair health is an indicator of Ojas too, look at Baba Ramdev for instance. Excess pleasure, lack of exercise, circulation, etc many reasons can be given for dhatu loss. Dhatus sublimate under excess pitta heat. certain hormones must be present in adequate quantity to keep hair smooth, shining and black. Good amount of estrogen is seen to keep hair long, shiny, thick and black as coal tar. Some women from villages of northern states have surprised this author by
their hair health.
Some tips:
Use Bhringaraj oil and anti-pitta herbs, lifestyle (early morning walk on wet grass, etc). Mineral deficiency as a result of natural diuretucs such as Tea/coffee. Minearl unbalance. Reduce salt and spicy items.
Fruit juices, esp aamla+honey has beneficial effect. The Medha Rasayanas such as Brahmi, hankhpushpi, Vacha etc and Brahmi Ghrutam etc are also useful under supervision. Most important, breathing techniques are a drugless approach to increase nutrition to brain. Go to some guru and learn.
There are many messages earlier on how to build dhatus in body. Follow those dietary guidelines. All cooling diets may add Kapha, and hair grow prfusely under these conditions. But to make them black, the glow of "Shukra" dhatu has to be there.
