You will need:

Lukewarm water
Skin cleanser
Exfoliant
Cotton balls
Skin tonic
Skin mask (you may also use some of our natural recipes)
Optional 1 chamomile tea bag or ¼ cup of chamomile tea
Clean towel


Before you start


Timing. Set about 30 minutes for this activity. Select the place where you will do your facial, preferably your bathroom or bedroom. You will need to lie down for the mask and will need a chair to sit down for the other steps (you may also stand if you wish).

Organization: Make sure that you have everything that you will need in one place. This is a relaxing activity, so make sure you have everything handy and no last minute rushes.

Steamy stuff. You will steam your face to open the pores and let the impurities out. You can put about 5 cups of water to boil. You can use only plain water or add some herbs such as chamomile, lavender, calendula or other calming herbs. You can also use a couple of drops of chamomile, rose or lavender essential oil (just 2 or 3 drops; you do not want to irritate your eyes). If you have roses at home, you can put rose petals in the water.

Make the chamomile tea and put some ice cubes to make it cold. If you do not have the tea, simply use cold water. Submerge two pieces of cotton; you will use them to relax your eyes during the mask.


The Process

Clean your skin: Make sure that there is no makeup left. Clean gently around your eyes and use circular motion.

Exfoliate: Apply your exfoliator with gentle circular movements. Rinse with water.

Steaming time: When the water is boiling, lower the temperature if you are using a steamer. Or put the water in a bowl and bring it to the place you are going to do the facial. Put a towel over you head to preserve the steam and lean face over the bowl, about a foot away. The steam has to feel nice, although at moments it may feel overpowering. If you feel a burning sensation, stop! The temperature is probably too high for you or you are too close to the bowl. Keep the steam going for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Extraction: We all have black and white heads. The steam eliminates a lot of them, but if you see any visible black heads, this is the time to get them out. You may cover your nails with cotton if they are too long. You will use only your fingers or a special extraction tool to press around and get the impurities out. Most experts do not recommend touching pimples because you may spread the infection or make it bigger and leave scars later on. Be gentle. Apply toner on your skin using cotton or a sprayer.

The mask: You may select your mask according to your skin needs: if you have an oily skin, a purifying mask will be great; if you have dry or normal skin, or in winter time, a deep moisturizing mask will be better.

Apply the mask all over our face, lie down if you like and put soft music on. Place the cotton balls on your eyes. Leave the mask on for about 10 to 15 minutes. Relax.

Take the mask off with lukewarm water and apply toner again. Proceed further by applying your regular moisturizer and eye cream. If you are going to be expose yourself to the sun, apply sun protection.

Have a calming drink such as a warm decaffeinated tea or just plain water.

Frequency: Depending on you skin type you may do a facial every week or every other week.

You do facial at home:
For Oily skin-
Mash six strawberries with a teaspoon of Brandy, two spoons of breadcrumbs, two spoons of fuller's earth and a few drops of rose water. Mix well and apply a thick layer on the face and neck and leave on for 20 minutes. Since strawberries have Vitamin C and a certain acidic properties they leave the skin sparkling clean. Breadcrumbs help to exfoliate dead skin while fuller's earth will tighten the pores and brandy would help to add some glow.
For dry skin-
Wash your face with milk and oatmeal instead of soap as milk nourishes the skin while oatmeal acts like an exfoliater while soap dries of the skin further. For extra moisturizing, make a pack with a mixture of 10 almonds, two spoons oatmeal, four tablespoons of full cream milk, two spoons china clay, juice of half a lemon, and one mashed avocado. Apply on face and leave it for 20 minutes.

You can feel fresh with a homemade pack in a few minutes. Take some sandalwood powder, tumeric and some malai. Apply it on your face and wash it when the pack dries up. You can also add some multani powder or fuller's earth to it

You can also pick a peel off mask from a chemist.

This is very easy, only you need to follow routine which is CTM, that is cleansing, tonning and moisturising. While washing your face or applying anything you should use upward motion. Here I will tell you how to do the facial.

First of all clean your face with cleanser

Scrub your face for 5 minutes. Do it softly. If you have pimples then dont use scrub.

Now give massage of 15 minutes with facial cream. Dont rub your face. Massage softly in upward motion and take water in your hand from time to time, so that your fingers slip on the skin without rubbing it.

Wipe your face with wet sponge and apply face pack, again in upward motion. Leave till it get dry. Now wash it with cold water.

Try to do facial before going to bed at night. After facial that 8 hour sleep will add extra glow on your face.

Home facials can be fun, relaxing and rewarding. Everyone should take some time out for themselves once in a while, and a facial is a great way to do it.Here are some recipes for a 5-step at home facial. No appointments, no expensive spa, just pure pampering in the comfort of your own home.

There are 5 steps to this home facial:
-Cleansing
-Steaming
-Mask s
-Toning
-Moisturizing

Step 1 - Cleansing

Remove all makeup from your face. Place a hot washcloth or towel (not too hot) over your face to help open your follicles and allow for a deeper cleaning. This also helps to soften dead skin cells making it easier to wash them away. Leave the cloth on for a few minutes. Using your favorite cleanser or one of our soaps, gently cleanse your face. Don't scrub as you don't want to irritate the skin. If you have them, use cotton cleansing pads instead of a washcloth.

Step 2 - Steaming

Steaming your skin helps to further open follicles, increase blood circulation to the skin, and soften it. It is also believed to help pores eliminate toxins. Place one Facial Tea bag in a bowl and add boiling water. Let it steep and cool for a few minutes. You can also use just plain water. Lean over the bowl and drape a towel over your head. Make sure to keep your face at least 15-24 inches away from the water. If you have sensitive skin or enlarged pores, keep further away. Remain under the towel for a few minutes, up to 5.

Step 3 - Masks

It is believed that masks draw dirt, oil, and impurities out of the skin. There are many varieties of masks you can make at home. There are clay, food, herbal, and gel masks. Here are a few simple recipes.

1.Dry Skin Honey Mask

1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. aloe vera gel (you can get this at any pharmacy or health food store)
1 vitamin E capsule

Mix together honey and aloe gel. Slit open vitamin E capsule and squeeze out contents into mixture and stir in. Spread on face making sure to avoid getting too close to your eyes. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Gently rinse off with warm water.

2.Oatmeal Mask

1/2 cup cooked oatmeal
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup mashed banana (optional)

Mix all ingredients together to form a paste. Spread on face, making sure you avoid the eye area, and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

3.One Ingredient Mask

1/2 avocado mashed
May add 1 tsp. honey or jojoba oil.

Spread on face, watching out for that eye area. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

Step 4 - Toning

Applying a toner or astringent helps to clear the skin of soap film, any remaining dead skin cells, and mask residue. Do not use an alcohol based toner as it will dry out your skin. Aloe vera makes a good toner as does witch hazel. Use an herbal toner with a witch hazel base or make your own (see recipe below). Use cotton balls to apply the toner and wipe the face in upward and outward strokes.

Herbal Toner

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup witch hazel
2 Facial Tea bags
1 tsp. aloe vera gel

Bring water and witch hazel to a boil. Turn off heat, add the tea bags and let steep for 5-10 minutes. When mixture has cooled, remove tea bags and mix in 1 tsp. aloe vera gel. Pour into a clean bottle. Wet a cotton ball with some of the mixture and wipe the face in upward and outward strokes. It would be a good idea to keep the remaining mixture in the refrigerator as there are no preservatives in it.

Step 5 - Moisturizing

This is the final step. Use your favorite moisturizer, preferably one that is all natural. Do not use any that contain mineral oil. Mineral oil is derived from petroleum and leaves a film on your skin that can clog your pores and interfere with the skin's natural processes. Shea butter is a good moisturizer as well as Rosehip Seed Oil.

You can do facial at home .You follow these tips-
