· Taxis: the luxury taxies or the private taxis at Ahmedabad are very convenient for Getting around Ahmedabad. These taxis can be hired for full day with chauffer.
· Buses: the buses at Ahmedabad are more popular amongst the local people. You can go around the city by the buses that run by Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS).

Dear Misra,
Ahmedabad is well connected through all the modes of transport may be roads,air or rail .It is main junction point for all the modes of transport and is easily accesible through all modes.
Airport is in the outskirts of city but is easily accesible by local transport system in the city.Now city government has also announded the starting of prepaid rickshaw from airport itself so it will be easy to acccess the city .
Also they have planned to start rickwhaw which will arrive at the destination of tourist and pick and drop tourist to their destination after sightseeing of ahmedabad.They will provide specail training to driver who will work as driver and guide.

Main or Ahmedabad railway station is located in the midst of city and is just nearby the ST( state transport main bustand) so both are easily accesible and all these terminals are well connected with city"s internal transport system.

Thus you can choose the mode of transport you think comfortable .
According to me railway would be the most cheapest and most comfortable mode of transport for you if you are not having time barrier and also you would enjoy travelling by train looking at various spots while travelling itself.

By Air : Ahmedabad is connected to Mumbai, Delhi and major cities of India by air. The city is also linked to Muscat, London and New York. The airport lies 10km to the northeast of the city; auto rickshaws, taxis and tourist buses will take you to your hotel or the city centre. You could have a rented car meet you on arrival.

By Train : Ahmedabad is well connected to most destinations in the country as well as to the different towns in Gujarat. The metro cities of Mumbai (545 km), Delhi (915 km), Calcutta, Chennai and other major cities are linked by a number of superfast, express and mail trains. Ahmedabad Railway Station is located east of the old city; auto rickshaws, taxis and city buses available outside the station facilitate access to the city.

By Road : Gujarat has the best network of roads in India. Inter-state bus services linking Ahmedabad to other cities in the state and beyond are regular and efficient. The roads are smooth four-lane highways in some parts of the state and two-lane elsewhere, but all roads are well maintained and have motels, restaurants and gas stations at regular intervals.
