The Govt. is trying to help in this respect and the education is free to all.In a few States the Govt. even provides free meal.
It is the other institutions that demand their share of flesh and they are more hardcore Shylocks.

Education must be made free for both girls & boys up to 10 standard in my proposal to the govt. But this will not solve the problem of killing the girls after the birth or in the womb. In rural India & in some urban places in India, some parents feel that daughter is burden and have to pay heavy dowry. So one should change such people's mentality instead of offering free education.. Any thing free is not good and free education is good for poor people bcoz they can't afford money for education..All the best

yes.... it should be free and compulsory. if a girl is educated in a family then the whole family will be educated. she can take the right decision at right time only if she has proper knowledge.. so girls education is very important for the nations development also.

I think that would be a great initiative to prevent female foeticide. This would also encourage people to send their daughters for education. did you know that of the 1.3 billion people living in poverty around the world, 70% are women. And its an obvious fact that education can bring people out of poverty. So according to me, primary education for girls is extremely important. I came across a campaign initiated by the United Nations called End Poverty by 2015. The campaign has gender equity and "universal" primary education as a major goal. in tamil nadu education is free upto 12 th std with books and notes and they even give bicycle free.

Education is not the real reason, in our country education is highly subsidized and either way educational costs are not the reason
Its dowry, that drives parents to this drastic situation

Education is least of the problems people feel they face with girl children , dowry pressure etc is one major perceived concern as such . This is a social issue and needs a social mindset change to address it , no amount of laws (which already exist) will help .
