People are never said half dead.I have not heard this word till now.But i think my knowledge says the person who goes in comma condition may be said half dead.Because that person cannot do anything and only hearts goes on.So it might be said half dead.I have heard the name half murder and it comes when in fight one person is beaten very severely and he is hospitalized.

people who work without enthusiasm and not participation are half dead and it is a serious consequence to be checked never left as he is like that and dont bother kind, if one can help to revive a person to be happy what more can a human ask..

Actually the people who are of no use either to the society or to the family in any way are often likened with half dead state for their condition equates to non living as they are not contributing in anyway. And some time we refer to the person as half dead who is in prolonged illness is invalid. He is living for he is breathing but his condition is equal to death.

In such context people use the phrase 'half - dead.'

Mridul, that is not half dead. A person cannot half-dead. In people’s parlance some body may say it as half-dead; but that is incorrect..
The clinical terminology of the said state is called “brain death”. Brain death causes “irreversible brain damage and loss of brain function, as evidenced by cessation of breathing and other vital reflexes, unresponsiveness to stimuli, absence of muscle activity, and a flat electroencephalogram for a specific length of time”.

This is also called “cerebral death”.

Here state of condition of a person,or any living things as "half dead" means, the condition, "living as good as dead ".
This condition can be on many accounts.Suppose a very old aged person,or a very young individual,suffering from brain stroke, or suffering from some brain damage due to some head injuary,compleately paralysed and bed ridden ,lying for a long time as "vegetable",the condition can be stated as half dead.When he will be full dead,it is in the hands of "Vidatha".In some cases,the state of condition of people suffering from povery,the journalist use to describe the condition as"half dead".All such state of affair of a person or animal,is termed in the phrase, as" HALF DEAD "

That is a state when the person is incapable of using his.her faculties.The will might be there but the body do not respond to the command sent by the mind.
Many a times the person is met with an accident and is lying in a state of a Coma. That results into the same effect.

Half dead, is the misconception, actually it means when person condition becomes so pathetic and weak that it feels like he going to die or in a state to look like he his dead so people called that person as half dead. And some time very old age people who are not able to walk and very weak are sometime also called as half dead and paralysed people also called as half dead.
