you need to talk to your friend and motivate him/her that it is not the end of the wortld.If depression is not taken care of fast then it drowns you into it.

When there is a grate master to solve your all problems, why look for an answer from the rest.I suggest you and your friend to watch the telecast of SATSANG by Sant Shri Asharamji Bapu regularly, telecasting in SONY TV daily at 7 AM, or visit any Ashram of Asharamji Bapu. zindagi ik aisi yaatra hai jis mein sukh dukh to aate hi rehate hai.....unse darna matlab zidagi haarna.....so apni freind ko samjhao ki jo beet gaya wo honi thi jo hona hai wo to apney haath mein hai so use hi aisa banao ki future mein aap past ko yaad karke depress na ho sako

Since I do not know much that how your freind fall in depression so I would suggest you to take your freind to a psychiatrist who can made your friend's view optimistic in life through hypnosis & other therapies
