It is sometimes wise to do so if the information provider is a reliable person. We should judge a person based on his/her interactions with us. On interactions with people, we get to know a lot about the people we interact with. If we are not satisfied with our personal interactions, than we can ask others views and if they have a point to believe, we should believe it. But, I think it would be better to keep that point in our backdrop until we prove it ourselves and then believe.
