Free schooling is not actually going to change the minds of some dogmatic people in our society. The vary basis of this perception originates from the olden days when boys used to be treated as the future 'waris' of a clan and the money earner while girls were treated as liabilities 'cos they used to be married off to become housewives. But the modern day concept is just diffreent. Girls and boys are running at par and the history says girls are more responsible that the boys. Hence proper education and exposure to the realities of modern day life will only make people get inclined to girls.

In many state not only girls boys too are being given free education up to eighth standard in the Govt. Schools.

Yes, that can be a solid step against female foeticide. Illiteracy is the root cause of mot of the social evils. Uneducated people without weighing the facts make their own perceptions and do baseless and evil acts like these.

Female foeticide is not because of the cost of education. But it is because of the system of dowry which is still prevailing in our country. So, if we can spread the knowledge to abolish dowry system, the numbers of female foeticide will automatically come down.

That does not bring any difference,most of the educated couple doing this nasty act,so what's the point of free education.No relation in this.People need to change themselves,slowly a percentage already understood that there is no difference between girls and boys.So after some years scenario will be changed.

Free education for girls up to school level may make them literate. Literacy may wipe out their ignorance, unawareness, false notion or superstition. But Feticide in our country is caused, not because of ignorance, unawareness or illiteracy alone. But it mainly due to poor economic condition, feeling 'female child a burden' etc. The dowry system in our society is the root cause of this ghost apprehension. Along with wiping out of illiteracy we should try to depredate the nuisance dowry method to prevent female foeticide from our society.

Education for women should be at par with men. If men have it free women should be entitled likewise. Equality for the sexes is what should be.
